BCTLA Conference

On Friday, October 20th, the annual BC Teacher-Librarians’ Conference was held at Parklands School in Sidney. Many authors and illustrators were ion hand as panelists or presenters at the various sessions. We were greeted and given  goody bags upon arrival, directed to a lounge in which to relax, treated to a lovely lunch, provided with water, coffee, etc. during the day, and thanked for our participation with an honorarium. The session I was involved with was well attended and the audience was attentive and full of questions. From discussions with others, it would seem this was the case elsewhere too.
It was a great day. There were so many people to visit with, it was impossible to talk to everyone. During the afternoon authors and illustrators were set up at a table in the gym to sign books. (Many thanks to the publishers and booksellers who not only had great displays but also brought lots of books.)

I understand attendance at the conference was greater than expected. Congratulations and many thanks to the organizers headed by Pat Miller and Vivian Hicks.
