Julie Burtinshaw’s Christmas Books

Every year since our daughter was five-years-old, we have read the same three books on Christmas eve. Now, our family, our extended family and all of our friends look forward to:

  • The Night Before Christmas
  • The Shooting of Dan Mgrew
  •  The Cremation of Sam Mgee

The last two poems, both by Robert Service are not exactly Christmas poems (at least not to most people) but to us they are extremely seasonal. Hence, as soon as the words: “There are strange things done in the midnight sun,” are uttered, everyone in our household knows that Santa is on his way.

I work as an editor for the ever-evolving online mag, Suite101.com and I write for them as well. I'm lucky. I work with great editors and writers.
