There was a fantastic turnout at today’s CWILL BC event at the Vancouver Public Library. All the CWILL BC authors and illustrators with new books gave short intros at the mike and had colourful and exciting displays at their tables. James reported excellent sales for the Kids Books table. Also present were the BC Coalition for School Libraries, Christianne’s Lyceum, and the CCBC. Kathie Shoemaker gave a workshop for parents and children on how to create a book together. I attended on behalf of CCBC and with a magic fishing pond full of CWILL BC and CCBC bookmarks. The magnet at the end of the fishing line picked up a bookmark by its attached paperclip. Bookmarks with a red dot on the back won a prize.
I’d bought all kinds of goodies at the Daiso store as well as some books but was shocked to discover the kids didn’t want toys, they only wanted books. Imagine that!
