Vying for the Podium

Meeting Miss 405 by Lois Peterson has been short-listed for three Canadian awards: B.C.’s Chocolate Lily, Saskatchewan’s Diamond Willow, and the Ontario Library Association’s Silver Birch Express.

In Meeting Miss 405, Tansy’s depressed mom is away indefinitely and her dad is making a mess of things at home. Then Dad sends her down the hall to a wrinkly old babysitter named Miss Stella, whom Tansy hates on sight. Miss Stella has a unique perspective on life, to say the least, but with the help of her best friend Parveen, Tansy gradually learns to manage all the changes in her life and make unexpected new friends in the process.
