In the Winners’ Circle

Congratulations to the winners of the BC Book Prizes which were announced at the Gala at the Kay Meek Centre.

The winner of the Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize was Julie Flett for her book Owls See Clearly at Night: A Michif Alphabet (Simply Read Books).

Also shortlisted were:
Maggie de Vries and Renne Benoit for Fraser Bear (Greystone Books)
Seiji Hiroe for The Cowboy Fisherman (self published)
Deborah Hodge and Brian Harris for Up We Grow! (Kids Can)
Ian McAllister and Nicholas Read for The Salmon Bears (Orca)

The winner for the Sheila Egoff Children’s Literature Prize was Maggie de Vries for Hunger Journeys (Harper Collins)

Also shortlisted were:
Polly Horvath for Northward to the Moon (Groundwood)
Christy Jordon-Fenton and Margaret Poliak-Fenton for Fatty Legs: A True Story (Annick)
Gina McMurchy-Barber for Free as a Bird (Dundurn)
Susin Nielsen for Dear George Cloony, Please Marry My Mother (Tundra)
