Make Way for Stories: What’s Wrong with today’s picturebook

Cartoon styleFor those of us who are tearing our hair out over editors wanting shorter and shorter picturebook stories, former Horn Book editor Anita Silvey offers her perspective in this School Library Journal article on what’s wrong with picture books today. I’m extremely heartened to read that she feels the pendulum will swing back and longer stories will again be appreciated. Amusingly, she says picturebooks are so short now, librarians can only have a story minute instead of story time.
