The latest Reading Lights are here!

We’re excited here at CWILL BC to tell you that the next round of plaques have been installed around Vancouver as part of the Reading Lights literacy initiative. These plaques feature children’s books by BC authors and illustrators and are installed on lamp posts near parks, playgrounds, schools, and libraries throughout the city to offer children exciting and unexpected encounters.

Visit the official Reading Lights website, where you can view an interactive map of all the plaques installed for both Phase 1 and 2 of the project. You can even download the map to take with you as you go on a kid-lit hunt!

Congratulations to the authors and illustrators whose books were selected for Phase 2 of the projects. Here’s the list:

A successful fundraiser to support Phase 3 of the project was held on February 23 and a call for submissions for the next round of plaques will be going out soon.

Reading Lights is a collaborative project of Vancouver Public Library and the Children’s Writers and Illustrators of B.C. Society. The first set of twenty Reading Lights plaques were installed in January 2016.

About Lee Edward Fodi

I'm a children's author, illustrator, and educator—or, as I like to think of myself, a daydreaming expert. When I'm not daydreaming myself, I teach kids how to do it. Yes, they might seem pretty good at it already, but in my experience, most of them haven't learned yet how to put it to good use. I'm the creator of the Kendra Kandlestar series and have illustrated books for other authors.
