This workshop is aimed primarily at illustrators, but writers of picture books will also benefit and are welcome to sign up. After all, the marketing and agent aspect applies to both writers and illustrators, and since we are talking about visual concepts more than techniques, the picture book writer will gain insight into this side of the process.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Richard Jesse Watson (Port Townsend, Washington) has been creating childrens picture books since 1984. His version of The Night Before Christmas rocketed to the New York Times Bestseller List (HarperCollins 2006), and Tom Thumb won the SCBWI Golden Kite Award. His illustrations have been chosen for numerous juried exhibitions, including The Original Art Exhibit, the Society of Illustration Annual Exhibit, permanent and traveling exhibits with MAZZA Museum and the National Center for Childrens Illustrated Literature. Kirkus Review proclaims his book, The Magic Rabbit, exuberant. Publishers Weekly asserts, Watsons artwork achieves a startling blend of the ancient and the timeless. The CWILL BC treasurer will return any cheques that come in after 16 participants have signed up, and will keep track of a waiting list. Your money is fully refundable up to two weeks before the class, and fully refundable even at that point if a person on the waiting list steps in to replace you.
